Strong Tory Team for Europe
The West Midlands Conservative team to fight the next Euro election has been announced, along with the ranking of the seven candidates. This is a crucial stage in the campaign process, on the run up to the 2009 election. The seven candidates, including the two sitting MEPs Philip Bradbourn and Malcolm Harbour, have been ranked by local Party Members in a postal ballot, the order of which will determine which candidates are most likely to become MEPs. Philip Bradbourn now heads the candidates list and commented: “We have a very strong team of MEP candidates from across the whole of the West Midlands. We offer a vast amount of experience with a mix of international business and local government expertise. Mr Bradbourn added: “With Anthea McIntyre in our number three position, we have a really good chance of taking a female MEP into Parliament in 2009. I know the team is going to work well together, campaigning around the region to ensure not just three Conservative MEPs get elected to the EU parliament to represent the West Midlands, but more Conservative MEPs than at the 2004 election.” The new line-up is:
