Jeremy was born in Taunton, Somerset. His parents were both teachers and he has one brother who is a Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy. He was educated at Taunton School, Trinity School in New York City, Exeter University, and the Inns of Court School of Law. He was called to the Bar in 1996 and specialised in criminal law, both prosecution and defence, and practised in the West Midlands area.
Jeremy is married to Yvonne and has one daughter, Stephanie. His interests include, travel, especially to the United States, music, and playing golf badly.
Jeremy Wright's Experience
Jeremy was elected as Member of Parliament for Rugby & Kenilworth in May 2005. He has served as a member of the Constitutional Affairs (later Justice) Select Committee and, in July 2007, became an Opposition Whip.
He founded and now chairs the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Dementia. Following the Boundary Commission's dismantling of the Rugby & Kenilworth constituency, Jeremy is the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for the new Kenilworth & Southam constituency.
In May 2010, Jeremy became a Government Whip.
