Worcester MP welcomes national wage boost

Worcester’s MP has welcomed the increase in the National Minimum Wage that comes into force today with the first step towards a National Living Wage set out in the Summer Budget and a record breaking increase in the Apprentice Minimum Wage. The moves are the first step on a journey that will take the UK to a new higher pay environment in which the minimum wage will rise to at least £9 per hour by 2020.

Traveller reforms to help Mid Worcestershire

Nigel Huddleston MP has welcomed new rules which will offer stronger protection against unauthorised occupation. The new package of reforms unveiled by Communities Secretary Greg Clark earlier this month require councils to provide sites for travellers who move around, where there is a need, however, travellers who are no longer nomadic, will now be subject to the same planning regulations as the settled population.

New rigorous qualifications for 16-year-olds

From this week, 16-year-olds will be able to study new, rigorous Core Maths qualifications, studying business-backed maths knowledge applicable to everyday life, as well as new gold standard Maths and English GCSEs.
